My trials and travails of experiences in retail. You may file these under #firstworldproblems

no line today

Published Post author

So I stopped in this morning.  Winnipeg has no people in it on Fridays in July except those of us who don’t get holidays.

I have the same recurring problem (a dream?).  I buy a coffee and a toasted bagel and the clerk says your coffee will be on the ledge (points to his right) and your bagel will be on the counter over there (points left).  I stare blankly.  Why would you do that?  I have to excuse myself past the line behind me to get the coffee and then cut through the same lineup to get back and get my bagel.  Why???

This morning it was combined with the other recurring problem.  The clerk takes my money and stares at me waiting for me to leave.   I stare back.  I know what he isn’t saying but I want him to say it.  It’s courtesy.  He mumbles about the ledge and the counter, and then his co-worker hands me my coffee and I go to pick up my bagel.

ugh.

rip, Tim.

The other coffee

Published Post author

Dear Tim:

I went to that other coffee shop this morning.  I like your coffee a lot too, but it’s just that your line is soooo long.  Your lines are longer than your coffee is good.  I had a muffin and a large coffee without you.  I’ll try coming back sometime when you’re not so busy.

5AM Donuts

Published Post author

Dear Tim:

I went by your place again at 5am the other day.  I really wanted the coffee.  And a donut, or a bagel or something.  oh wait, there is no such thing as 5am donuts.  You’d think I would know this by now.  I’ve been there enough times.

The guy at the counter explained to me that  the old donuts must be destroyed before new ones can be created.  I think its a physical law, or maybe something to do with donut reincarnation, I’m not sure.

Anyway, having no food available in your restaurant is a terrible idea.  It’s just terrible.  I found something in the display case that was shipped fully cooked from Ontario and ate that with my coffee.

Tim, please change your ways.
